If you’ve played the past two installments of the Fire Emblem series, then changes are you’ve gotten used to the revamped Support System that was first introduced in Fire Emblem Awakening. Unlike Awakening, and Fates—Fire Emblem Echoes Support System is a little bit different. In this article we’ll break down the Support System in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, show you how to raise Support Relationships, and even discuss whether marriage is possible in the game.
Outside of the epic story and battles in Fire Emblem: Fates, there is a mechanic that has carried over into every Fire Emblem game. The support relationships have given players a Sims -like feel in bringing couples together through marriage that boosts their support for one another on the battlefield. Fire Emblem is a fantasy tactical role-playing video game franchise developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. The Fire Emblem series is well known for its innovation and for being one of the first Eastern style tactical role-playing games, with a strong.
How the Support System Works
As we mentioned above, the Support System in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a bit different than the Support Systems that players of Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates have gotten used to. That being said, the Support System in Shadows of Valentia is very similar to the original old-school system that was seen in the first few Fire Emblem titles, and the idea of marriage, and having kids is only something that has appeared in the past two installments. Make sure you have every available character with our guide on how to recruit all characters.
That being said, Fire Emblem Echoes does not include many of the Support System features that we’ve grown accustomed to. As we mentioned above, there’s no marriage or child bearing, and there’s also no joining up and fighting together, which is a feature that many fans loved in the latest installments of the series. It’s a much more simplified Support System, from a much simpler time, but it works well enough for the game.
How to Raise Support Relationship Levels
Now that you understand how the Support System in Shadows of Valentia works, let’s talk about how you can level up your unit’s Support Relationships. This is actually a very easy thing to do, as it simply requires you to have the units fight within one space of each other. This could prove challenging during some battles, so we’d suggest going ahead and spending the first few hours of the game battling with those who can become friends close together.
Once your units have grown closer, and the amount of experience needed to level up their Support Relationship has been reached, you will simply need to move them next to each other and choose the Talk option that now appears in the activity list. Once they’ve talked, they can still attack—if they’re in range of an enemy—or use items to heal themselves.
As we stated in our section on how the Support System works, Fire Emblem Echoes uses a much simpler version of the Support System that we’ve seen in the past two installments of the series. You won’t be able to have kids, or even get married, but you will be able to raise those relationships and make your units stronger.
